Overall 2025 has been a good year for me … if I ignore the general state of the world and all the geopolitical craziness. We live in a very strange transition period and I hope the new world order emerges sooner rather than later so we can move on from the madness happening right now.
I’m naturally optimistic, though it wasn’t always easy during the year.
But, as I was saying, if I just block out that side of things, there is a lot I am happy about and proud of about 2025.
A Year of Movement: Travel and Gratitude
I was lucky to be able to travel a lot. I feel extremely lucky to be able to afford to travel internationally. Most of my trips were family related, that’s what happens when you decided to move away from your own country and met someone who did the same. It is a lot of fun to discover new cultures and new places in the world.
I am very aware of the ecological impact and always thoroughly think before booking a plane ticket and see how I can compensate in other areas of my life to not have a crazy carbon footprint
The Game-Changer: Strength Training
I was working out regularly before 2025 but I really made it a daily habit. I can immediately feel when I have not been working out two days in a row and how much better I feel when I do.
But what I have discovered this year is how much strength training is improving my life.
I have been using heavier weights and oh the changes I have seen in my long term pains that just disappeared, how much stronger I’ve felt.
I think this is the best I’ve ever felt in my life and I’m getting close to 40.
I’ve heard so many people, podcasts, shows explaining how important it is to use heavy weights and it blew my mind how true it actually is.
Looking Ahead: 2026 Fitness Goals
I am absolutely continuing strength training this year, and am aiming to do it twice a week and add more cardio into my routine for balance as well.
Work: Intense but Rewarding
I will not go into too many details about my work, but it has been a very demanding year with a lot of changes. I am extremely proud of the team I manage and seeing new processes fall in place, and things slowly but surely clicking for the team. Because of all the work we have done in 2025, I’m confident 2026 will feel less hectic and a lot more organized and rewarding.
The Struggle: Too Much Screen Time
My main struggle for the year has been how much I’ve been scrolling, like a lot of people, to be distracted from everything that wasn’t going well. It is so easy to end up on instagram for hours. This is something I really want to change in 2026. Be more mindful of the time I spend on my phone and social media. I want to use that time for something not in front of a screen.
Moving Forward
In 2025 I’ve learned to be more consistent and that strength matters more as we age, and sometimes being optimistic and turning off your phone is the best thing you can do for yourself.
